가나아트는 화면 가득 화려한 컬러밴드를 그려내는 작가 하태임(b.1973)의 개인전 ‹Un passage›를 개최한다. 하태임의 화면을 보면, 그녀가 만들려고 하는 것이 다층적 혹은 ‘미세차원’의 시공간 자체라는 것을 알 수 있다. 색의 획으로 구성된 켜켜이 쌓인 공간은 평면적이지만 다층적 깊이를 만들고 그것이 깊은 하나의 공간으로 여기게 한다. 하지만 하태임 화면이 가지는 제1의 매력은 지나치지도 모자라지도 않는 균형과 절제이다. 오랜 기간 동안 동일 행위의 반복과 수련을 통해서 그녀만의 감각, 즉 중성적이고 우아한, 그러나 경쾌한 색들의 획과 그들의 세계를 화면에 만들어냈다.

그녀의 색은, 우리의 일상에서 늘 볼 수 있는 것처럼 익숙하지만 찬찬히 살펴보면 조금씩 다르고 조금 더 중성적이다. 마찬가지로, 그녀의 획들도 모자라지도 지나치지도 않을 만치의 놀랄만한 절제를 볼 수 있다. 그래서 일견 속도감이 덜하여 역동적이지 않거나 감성이 덜 드러나 보일 수도 있다. 그러나 이것이 하태임이 만들어 내는 화면의 특질이며, 이 특질의 근원은 감각의 절제와 반복의 숭고이다.

Gana Art is delighted to present “Un Passage”, an exhibition of Ha Tae-Im who paints brilliant color bands on canvas. In looking at Ha Tae-Im’s work, it is evident that she intends to create space-time in multiple layers or in micro-dimensions. Configured with an accumulation of color strokes, her space is planar but forms multiple layers, allowing us to regard it as a single space with significant depth. The primary appeal of Ha Tae-Im’s work is her balance and moderation. Through endless repetitions and practice, Ha Tae-Im has managed to develop her world on the canvas, which features her unique sensitivity expressed through neutral, yet elegant and pleasant, color strokes.

Although her colors could appear as ones that we could encounter every day, a closer look reveals that the hues are a little different and a bit more neutral. A level of similar restraint can be found in her strokes of color, which are neither excessive nor deficient. Some might claim that they lack a sense of velocity, they are not dynamic enough, or do not reveal sufficient emotion. However, these are distinct characteristics of Ha Tae Im’s philosophy, the foundation of which can be found in the restraint of senses and the sublimity of repetition.
