2026년 2월, 가톨릭대학교 서울성모병원의 소장품을 서소문성지 역사박물관에 기탁함으로써 상호 발전과 공공 문화 증진에 기여하고자 합니다.

병원의 소장품들은 환우와 그 가족에게 희망과 회복의 메시지를 전해 왔습니다. 말로 표현할 수 없는 슬픔 속에서 작품들은 때로 등을 토닥이는 위로가 되고, 잠시 숨을 고를 수 있는 정신적 휴식을 건넸습니다. 이 소장품들은 이제 병원이라는 공간을 떠나 박물관으로 옮겨져, 더 체계적인 연구와 보존 과정을 거쳐 새로운 방식으로 관객과 만납니다. 의료의 공간에서 위로와 회복을 함께하던 작품들은 공공의 문화 공간에서 예술이 지닌 치유의 힘과 사회적 가치를 다시 한번 환기하는 매개가 될 것입니다.

이번 특별기획전은 서울성모병원과 서소문성지 역사박물관이 함께 이루어 낸 협력의 첫 결실이자, 예술이 개인의 마음을 넘어 사회 전체와 호흡하는 방식을 제안하는 자리입니다. 작품 하나하나에는 치유를 향한 기증자의 염원과 병원의 시간 속에서 축적된 기억과 사연, 그리고 묵묵히 곁을 지켜온 시선들이 담겨 있습니다. 우리는 이 전시를 통해 그 이야기들이 더 많은 이들에게 닿기를 바랍니다.

아울러 본 전시는 단순한 소장품 공개를 넘어, 예술이 일상의 경계에서 어떤 역할을 수행해 왔는지를 되돌아보는 계기가 될 것입니다. 삶의 가장 힘들었던 순간에 곁을 내주었던 작품들은 이제 이곳에서 새로운 관람자와 마주하며 또 다른 위로와 사유의 시간을 제안합니다.

박물관은 앞으로도 서울성모병원과 지속해서 협력하며 소장품을 책임감 있게 관리하고, 그 의미를 널리 공유해 나갈 것입니다. 이번 전시가 예술과 돌봄, 공공성과 연대가 만나는 지점을 천천히 바라보는 시간이 되기를 바랍니다.


In February 2026, The Catholic Univ. of Korea, Seoul ST. Mary’s Hospital entrusted its collection to the Seosomun Shrine History Museum to promote public culture and mutual growth.

The hospital’s collection has long offered hope and spiritual respite to patients and their families. Moving from the medical setting to the museum, these works are now professionally managed and researched to meet the public in a new light. They serve as a medium to evoke the healing power and social value of art within a public space.

This exhibition, the first fruit of our collaboration, showcases works that embody donors’ wishes for healing and memories accumulated over time. It is an invitation to witness how art breathes with society beyond the individual heart.

Beyond a mere display, this exhibition reflects on the role of art at the boundaries of daily life. The works that once stood by people during their most difficult moments now offer new viewers a time for consolation and contemplation. We hope this journey provides a moment to observe the intersection of art, care, and solidarity.
