아뜰리에 아키는 2024년 하반기 두 번째 기획전으로 오는 8월 31일부터 10월 5일까지 스즈키 타카코 개인전 <당신의 빛나는 눈빛이 내 눈과 닿을 때,당신과 나 사이에 이야기가 피어납니다. When your shining eyes touch mine, a story blooms between you and me.>을 개최한다. 정규 미술교육을 받지 않은 일본 작가 스즈키 타카코는 특정한 양식에 적용되지 않는 자신만의 독자적인 작업 세계를 구축해 왔다. 작가는 상상으로부터 발현된 인물들과 그녀의 삶에 영향을 미친 개인적 경험이 결합해 그녀만의 독특한 화면을 전개한다. <당신의 빛나는 눈빛이 내 눈과 닿을 때, 당신과 나 사이에 이야기가 피어납니다. When your shining eyes touch mine, a story blooms between you and me.>는 아뜰리에 아키에서 선보이는 스즈키 타카코의 국내 첫 번째 개인전으로, 작가의 내면 세계를 보여주는 회화 30여 점으로 구성된다.

이번 전시는 작가가 경험한 평온한 일상에서 발현된 공감각적 인상을 드러내며, 자연의 질감(texture), 음식의 식감(mouthfeel), 동물의 부드러운 촉감(touch) 등 작가 특유의 행복의 미학을 조명하는 자리이다. 그녀의 작품은 길고 어린아이 같은 캐릭터와 동물들로 가득 차 있다. 작가는 이 캐릭터들이 머릿속에 풍경처럼 자연스럽게 활동하고 있다고 이야기한다. 또한 정체를 알 수 없는 동물들은 신화나 개인적인 관심, 주변사람들이 좋아하는 것 들에서 영감을 받아 새롭게 창작된다. 이런 무표정의 뮤즈(Muse)는 단순해 보일 수 있지만, 섬세한 색상과 복잡하며 몽환적인 표현이 어우러져 관객에게 미묘한 감정과 궁금증을 불러낸다. 특히 개인전을 통해 선보이는 ‘Beautiful you who adorns me’ 작품은 우리가 무심코 지나쳤던 꽃밭에서 일상 속 행복의 가치를 발견하는 시선을 잘 보여준다.

스즈키 타카코는 대중이 자신의 작품을 보며 그들만의 이야기를 만들어 나가도록 초대한다. 그녀는 어린아이 같은 캐릭터와 동물의 행동을 통해 사람들의 마음을 연결하고, 대화를 촉진하고자 한다. 그림을 감상하는 무언의 일상적 대화는 작가와 관객 간의 내면세계와 창의성에 새로운 시각을 제시하고 넓힐 수 있다고 믿는다. 또한 그녀는 서로 다른 개인간의 허물없는 소통에 강한 신념을 가지고 있으며, 그녀의 작품 속과 전시장은 모두가 성장할 수 있는 중립적인 공간으로 보고 있다. 따라서 그녀의 작품은 관객에게 깊은 공감을 불러일으키고, 새로운 연결과 소통의 기회를 제공한다.

일본에서 아이패드로 그림을 그리기 시작한 스즈키 타카코는 ‘보통의 삶과 일상의 행복’을 공유하는데 깊은 관심을 가지고 있다. 그녀는 작품을 통한 대화를 예술적 영역으로 확장하고, 서로의 행복 이야기를 창조하는 것을 작가의 고유한 예술 언어로 촉구하고 있다. 작가는 유럽 Galerie Droste, 미국 Lorin gallery을 넘어 다양한 국가에서 5번의 개인전을 선보이며 국제적인 활동을 전개하고 있다. 2022년 3월 소더비 홍콩(Sotheby's Hong Kong)에서 추정가 40,000 - 80,000 HKD의 2배 높은 가격인 151,200 HKD 낙찰되는 등 크리스티(Christie's)와 소더비(Sotheby’s) 등 글로벌 옥션에서 떠오르는 신예 작가로 주목받았다. 또한 2023년에는 Art Central HK에 참여하였으며 아뜰리에 아키를 통해 2024년 아트부산(Art Busan)에 참여하여 한국에서의 활동을 개시했다.


ATELIER AKI is proud to present , the first Korean solo exhibition by acclaimed Japanese artist Suzuki Takako (b. 1984, Japan). Suzuki, who captured international attention at Christie’s and Sotheby’s since her debut, is a self-taught artist whose unique style, free from traditional constraints, captivates with its originality. Her work vividly blends characters born from her imagination with everyday experiences, crafting an original personal narrative. In her first solo exhibition in Korea titled , Takako will unveil 21 new works that offer an in-depth exploration of the artist’s storytelling of the unconscious, derived from everyday life and dreams.

In this exhibition, Takako delves into the synesthetic impressions born from the artist's serene daily life, capturing the textures of nature, the mouthfeel of food, and the gentle touch of animals. These elements spotlight her distinctive aesthetic, which celebrates the essence of happiness. Her canvases are populated with elongated, childlike figures and whimsical animals, she describes as naturally inhabiting the landscapes of her mind. Some of these mysterious creatures are newly imagined, drawing inspiration from mythology, personal fascinations, or the preferences of those close to her. Although her expressionless muses may seem simple, they are carefully intertwined with subtle hues and intricate, dreamlike imagery, eliciting a complex range of emotions and intrigue from viewers.

The piece titled "Beautiful you who adorns me," featured in this solo exhibition, beautifully captures the artist's unique ability to uncover the hidden joy in the seemingly insignificant details of daily life.

"Beyond the forest, I found a field of flowers.

There, I met a girl.

'Can you reach this place without stepping on the flowers?'

Suzuki Takako invites viewers to create their own narratives while engaging with her art. Through the dynamic movements and expressions of her whimsical, childlike figures, she aims to connect the hearts of viewers and facilitate meaningful relationships. Takako perceives art as a subtle yet powerful medium of communication, capable of providing fresh perspectives and enriching the inner worlds and creativity of both the artist and the audience. The artist envisions her works and exhibition space as neutral grounds for mutual growth, fostering open, honest dialogue.

From the moment Suzuki Takako began creating digital art on her iPad in Japan, she has been captivated by the beauty of ordinary life and the joy found in everyday moments. Her work transforms these simple pleasures into a rich dialogue, urging viewers to craft their own narratives of happiness?a unique artistic language she champions. The artist has made a significant mark internationally, with five solo exhibitions, including at Galerie Droste in Europe and the Lorin Gallery in the U.S. Her rising acclaim was highlighted in March 2022 when one of her pieces sold for 151,200 HKD at Sotheby’s Hong Kong, more than double its estimated value. As a noted emerging artist in global auctions like Christie’s and Sotheby’s, she continues to gain recognition. In 2023, she showcased her work at Art Central HK and made her Korean debut at Art Busan 2024 through ATELIER AKI.
