Facing the wall in front of time circuit
For personal exhibition of Chan Sang, Park

Sungnyemoon was burned down!
It took just about 5 hours to destroy this historical remain built in 1398, and its vestiges declared 'time out' of Sungnyemoon itself. Simultaneously, the site of Sungnyemoon encountered a destiny to greet a new era.
Meanwhile, Sungnyemoon seemed to express its importance even though it is completely destroyed from the general public's point of view. At the crossing point of abstract concept and devotion reviving on the limited thinking brought by concrete vanishment, personal rancor of a septuagenarian made Sungnyemoon die a heroic death above the fire.
Coordinates are remained, but the entity is only in existence as a memory inside afterimages of people's spirits.
What is the meaning of existence?
What do creation and extinction imply?
What about human civilization?
And in what significance does the remains coexist with human beings at the present time?
Works of Chan Sang, Park throw contemplative images from the thoughts on the surface, rather than obtaining answers or worrying about those questions, to be immersed in the course of getting wise answers to silly questions.
Internal parts of his works including stone pagoda, Bodhisattva, Gyeongbokgung, portrait, Statue of Liberty are applied as blurry silhouette to the screen. They show and hide their images among organic combination of symbols. From the border of showing and hiding, viewers would experience relaxation and contraction. It is not just a selection of grounds and figures, changing particles into a drawing expression, but a complex divergence and combination of particles in individual structures based on organic evenness.
Various aggregates are raked without any gap inside the works based on simple edges. On this arrangement, symbols of old ages appear as negative shades with flat background.

The present writer would not divine everything, it is sure that Chan Sang, Park knows that the range of answers has to be constructed based on the limit of the silly questions. This fact is seen through his style of opening other silly questions for his own silly questions.
Human beings managed time, time created civilization through accumulation of experiences, and finally civilization faded away beyond the hill of extinction after handing the remains down. A new owner of this hill is a human being with human genome and a different time range. But still, nature of having a limit remains in himself, this human being prevails upon himself for a serious observation. Chan Sang, Park has this spirit and recognition as his works express them well.
Geometrical drawing and symbolic patterns inside his works exist through a combination of background conditions, rather than being dominated by passive images. Simultaneous flatness is exposed in front of us as in one screen with an impartial condition. It exists as an afterimage derived from an instant, where idle thoughts and worries encounter the wall, as a wall of a monastic order. Which means, it exists in front of our eyes as the start of wall facing.
Internal patterns are hard to understand for the viewers as a genome related to images. However, it approaches as mandala in the structure of geometrical and symbolic elements, which the viewers would recognize as the remains of old civilization.
As they are compared to mandala's afterimages or feelings before touching a current circuit, Chan Sang Park does not force the viewers to view them with sensitive visual antenna.
Meanwhile he also does not accept civilized rigoristic view nor an authenticity of life.
What Chan Sang Park tries to tell through mandala of idea such as a border of nature and an gemome, is that seeking for an awakening of life through realization of 'vain' is a silly answer and also a wise answer for the question. This realization can be attained through extinction among circulation of life.
Life of human being is limited, and if he dies, he would immediately become a memory from a tangible existence. It can be varied in the length of time but certainly there is a fixed order.

Whether the life flows fast or even he exists at the present, sooner or later he would give farewell to the world on the hill of circulation.
Range of human life can be both wide and narrow, and it is same for the length of time.
Viewing things in a relative point of view originates from the idea that creation must come to extinction and extinction can be the starting point of another creation.
Recommending slowness in this fast-moving world is to restore human beings from a material existence to an awakened existence. That is what the present writer believes.
Walk through the garden of mandala and circuit of Chan Sang Park, with slow and sensitive antennae, and stop the antennae of following the rapid time.
It can be narrow but also be enormously wide!
I carefully recommend you to study what Chan Sang Park has in his mind, just as one human being of the same age.
Your delicate antennae is needed!
