프랑스 파리에서 태어나 파리 국립고등예술원을 졸업한 정소영은 2006년부터 파리와 서울을 중심으로 활동하고 있다.
기존 인식의 공간의 전복을 시도하는 조형 설치 작업을 하는 정소영은 끊임없이 세워지고 무너지는 건물들, 해체되고 재조립되는 물건들과 그 안에, 자라나고 사라지는 수 많은 이야기들을 가지고 과거, 현재와 미래가 혼합된 새로운 가상공간의 세계를 연출한다. 그의 작업은 자연과 도시풍경 및 그 공간에서 일어나는 물리적 현상에 대한 호기심과 관찰로부터 시작하여 우리의 일상에 미묘하면서도 드라마틱한 변화를 불러일으키는 물리적 자연의 힘, 변이, 마찰, 결정화, 중력, 해체 등의 현상에 대한 심리적, 철학적 개념의 접근이다.
그는 과학, 지리, 건축, 시각 예술의 영역을 가로지르는 공간 실험을 통하여 현실에 존재하지 않는 인공과 자연사이의 제 3의 풍경을 그려낸다.
